Learning new things and sharing knowledge

These workshops run in parallel with the main symposium session preceding the morning coffee break. After that, the animal technicians from the workshops will join the main session. If you are an animal technician and wish to follow the workshops, please choose one session of the two below.
Timing for both workshops is 8h50-10h20.

Animal technician workshop 1: Non-aversive mouse handling

In this workshop, different practical aspects on non-aversive mouse handling will be discussed.
What is it? How is it done? What are the advantages? What are the challenges and difficulties in implementation?

Different members from the BCLAS LIVE working group will share their experiences, their successes but also their struggles in implementing non-aversive mouse handling.
This workshop will be interactive and will be focused on sharing practical experiences. There will be no simultaneous translation but everybody can choose in which language to speak.

Animal technician workshop 2: Working with (mini)pigs

With this workshop we want to bring together technicians, caretakers and researchers who work with (mini)pigs to exchange experiences on this often overlooked animal species. We want to discuss and share experiences on different topics like handling, training, enrichment, oral dosing, etc.

This workshop will be interactive and will be focused on sharing experiences. There will be no simultaneous translation but everybody can choose in which language to speak.
